Science at Parkhill Infants' School
Play is the highest form of research. - Albert Einstein
We look at science as something very elite, which only a few people can learn. That's just not true.
- Mae Jemison
At Parkhill Infants' School we are proud of the quality and depth of our Science teaching. Children are encouraged to experiment, to explore and to investigate both inside and outside the classroom.
We want to encourage our children to
be BRAVE
be BOLD
and to
be BRILLIANT!
Our SCience principles
We are excited and have fun with what we are learning and investigating
We work together and share our ideas
We use what we already know to solve problems and discover new things
We are curious about the world and ask questions
We think carefully about the resources we use
We are safe
Our Science vision
Developing young minds through enquiry, investigation, and enjoyment to create the scientists of the future
Dr Donald Palmer
Dr Donald Palmer visited the school to talk to the children about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Dr Palmer is an associate professor of immunology who has worked with Cancer Research UK and is an honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College, London.
The children were full of questions for him and really enjoyed meeting a "real scientist"!
When Dr Palmer came I was really excited because I never knew he was a scientist. He gave me the inspiration to ask questions in science and always explore. - Sabah, Year 2
Dr Palmer inspired me by telling me something, he said "it's never too early to become a scientist" so I want to start to be a scientist right now.
- Laila, Year 2
