Geography at Parkhill Infants' School
The study of Geography is about more than memorising places on a map. It's about understanding the complexity of our world.
- Barack Obama
Geography is all about the living, breathing essence of the world we live in. It explains the past, illuminates the present and prepares us for the future. What could be more important than that?
- Michael Palin

The curriculum has been developed to incorporate the children’s own personal geographies and make the subject relatable, encouraging them to think about what it is like to grow up as a child at Parkhill Infants' School, in Redbridge, during the 21st Century.
Geography allows for numerous possibilities in taking part in fieldwork and the children regularly engage in geographical enquiry and outdoor learning. For example, the children take part in outdoor fieldwork and create a weather chart using equipment to measure the temperature, wind speed and rainfall.
Our GEOGRAPHY VISION
To create a geography curriculum that is inclusive and engaging, aimed to inspire our children to become the geographers of the future.
We provide the children with an opportunity to compare their lives with those of others which allows them to develop an understanding of how diverse our world is. In doing this, we also promote tolerance and respect of different cultures linking to our British Values.
Our geography curriculum is also linked alongside our work with UNICEF and TfL Stars to teach our children about sustainability and the importance of looking after our environment.
Your education should help you use and develop your talents and abilities. It should also help you learn to live peacefully, protect the environment and respect other people.
