Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL)

At Parkhill Infants’ School we are proud to be introducing the Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) Programme.

The award-winning programme is designed to improve opportunities for physical activity, resilience and enjoyment through quality play.

Research shows that playtime makes up 20% of a child’s school life, that’s equivalent to 1.4 years of school. It’s important that we ensure that our children get the most out of this time through vibrant and varied play.

Supported by an OPAL mentor, we will be embarking on a school improvement programme to develop our outdoor spaces into dynamic environments that promote fun, support social and emotional development and inspire creativity.
